šŸŒŸ Bounce Back from Ankle Sprains šŸŒŸ

šŸŒ Ankle Injury Facts

Lateral ankle sprains are one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries. These injuries occur when the ankle joint is forced beyond its normal range of motion, typically resulting in damage to the ATFL, CFL and PTFL ligaments on the outer side of the ankle.

šŸ’« Acute Phase

The acute phase occurs typically 1-7 days after the injury. There are 3 grades of ankle sprain classifications: Grade 1 (mild) involves minimal ligament damage, Grade 2 (moderate) involves partial tearing of the ligaments, and Grade 3 (severe) involves complete tearing of the ligaments. All 3 grades of ankle sprain can be treated with acupuncture. During this phase, the main goals of treatment are to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation, as well as to promote the healing of the damaged ligaments.

šŸ©ø Bloodletting Cupping

In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the acute phase of a lateral ankle sprain may be treated with bloodletting cupping. This technique involves making tiny punctures in the skin and then applying a cupping device to the affected area, which creates a suction that draws the built-up fluid to the surface. This helps to remove stagnant fluid, reduce swelling, and promote the flow of fresh, oxygenated blood to the injury site, thereby accelerating the healing process.

šŸš€ Speed Up Recovery

By utilizing bloodletting cupping and acupuncture, TCM practitioners aim to speed up the recovery from a lateral ankle sprain. By stimulating specific acupoints along the meridians that correspond to the ankle and surrounding tissues, acupuncture can promote the removal of stagnant blood and enhance the bodyā€™s natural healing response to the damaged ankle ligaments.
