💪🏻Pectoralis Minor Injury: Acupuncture 🛟

💡Muscle Facts 💡

The pectoralis minor is a small, triangular muscle located beneath the pectoralis major. It originates from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th ribs and inserts onto the coracoid process of the scapula. Its primary function is to pull the scapula forward and downward, assisting in arm movements.

💡Pain Area💡

Injury or tightness in the pectoralis minor can cause pain in the front of the shoulder, radiating down the arm. This is due to the muscle's proximity to the shoulder joint and its attachment to the scapula.

💡Who is at Risk?💡

Desk workers with arms out in front of the body for a prolonged period of time. Sitting and reaching to use the keyboard puts the shoulders in a forward position and shortens the pec minor, causing muscle tightness.

Athletes in sports that involve overhead arm movements, like swimming, volleyball, and tennis, are also at higher risk of pectoralis minor injuries.

💡Acupuncture can help💡

Acupuncture can provide relief by targeting specific trigger points in the pectoralis minor muscle. These include points near the attachment on the coracoid process, as well as points along the muscle belly. Stimulating these points can help release tension, increase blood flow, and reduce pain.

👩🏻‍⚕️If you're struggling with shoulder pain from a pectoralis minor injury, acupuncture may be a natural, effective solution. Book an appointment today to start your journey to having a pain-free body.

⚠️ Do not attempt to perform acupuncture by yourself. The acupuncture points on the front of the chest are especially dangerous for untrained individuals to manipulate. Seek out a licensed TCM practitioner if you require acupuncture treatment.
